About

We're a group of neighbors in Dupont Circle who got tired of only knowing the people on our floor. So we started throwing happy hours. Then it got bigger.

What we do

Monthly happy hour

Every second Monday, 6pm onward, upstairs at Dupont Italian Kitchen. The core of everything we do. No agenda, no speeches, just neighbors.

Swaps

Book swaps, clothing swaps, and whatever people want to trade next. Free, low-waste, and a great excuse to talk to strangers.

Civic stuff

Plain-language explainers about your ANC and Ward 2, reminders about elections, and nudges to show up when decisions get made.

How it started

Dupont Neighbors began in January 2026 with a single flyer taped to a lamppost: Meet your neighbors! Local happy hour. The upstairs room at Dupont Italian Kitchen filled up, people asked when the next one was, and a monthly tradition was born.

Since then we’ve added swaps, a newsletter, and a growing habit of showing up to ANC meetings together.

Who runs this

A handful of volunteer organizers who live in the neighborhood. We’re not a nonprofit, a business, or a political committee. We split the tab for name tags.

Want to help? We’d love that.

Our mission

Dupont Neighbors builds community and belonging in Dupont Circle. We help neighbors get informed and involved in local government, from ANC and city elections to the issues shaping our neighborhood, so we can act together with real influence over our community’s future.

How we roll

Our community values. Also our code of conduct, but friendlier.

Everyone's welcome
Dupont is a proudly queer neighborhood and this is a proudly queer-friendly group. Come as you are. Renters, owners, newcomers, lifers, dog people, cat people.
Be kind, be curious
Talk to someone you don't know. Ask what brought them here. Harassment or discrimination of any kind isn't tolerated, and organizers will ask you to leave.
Neighbors, not a nonprofit
We're volunteers, not an organization with a board or a budget. We don't endorse candidates. We do think you should vote.
Local first
We care about Dupont Circle. The fountain, the rowhouses, the bars, the bike lanes, and the meetings where all of it gets decided.
